Adding on to a home with a very distinctive Architectural "Style" is always complicated. This "Dutch Colonial" house has a traditional center entry floor plan. Located on a large corner lot, there was plenty of room for an expansion in one direction. But, how do you maintain an attractive balance with the original facade. The key is to design a distinct element that contrasts with the original, but carefully attaches to continue lines of the original facade. The 1st floor Kitchen /Breakfast /Family Room has a grade level entry foyer and covered back porch. The 2nd floor has a guest room with private bathroom, closet, and sitting room.
